Student Regent
The UCSA Board of Directors, the Council of Student Body Presidents, and the Regents’ Special Committee to Select a Student Regent are all involved in the annual selection of the Student Regent. The working relationship between the Student Regent and the University of California Student Association typically has been a close and powerful one.
The Student Regent serves a one-year term as a full voting member of the UC Board of Regents, attending all meetings of the Board and its Committees. Prior to their service as a full voting member, the appointee holds the title “Regent-designate” and is invited to participate in all meetings of the Board and of its Committees, but without a vote.
The current 2007-08 Student Regent is Ben Allen, a Law student at UC Berkeley:
