UCSA Staff Members
Liz Hall, Executive Director - As Executive Director, Liz Hall coordinates the work of the organization to implement Board decisions and policy, as well as the organizational priorities set by the UCSA membership. Liz manages the Oakland and Sacramento Offices, supervises UCSA staff, and oversees the operations of UCSA-affliliated organizations. Liz is responsible for UCSA Budget development & implementation, all financial matters, strategic planning, student government association and alumni relations, and ensuring the overall day-to-day health of UCSA.
Liz is an alumna of UC Berkeley, where she earned her BA in Urban Studies in 2005. After graduating, Liz joined the UCSA staff as University Affairs & Council on Student Fees Director. She is very excited about working for UC students in her new role, and looks forward to a great year building the student movement.
Courtney Weaver, Legislative Director - As UCSA Legislative Director, Courtney Weaver provides policy, administrative and program support to the UCSA Board of Directors regarding legislative issues of concern to UC students. Courtney coordinates UCSA lobbying efforts in Sacramento, trains students in lobbying and testifying and coordinates UCSA’s annual lobby day. She is a 2006 alumna of UC Santa Barbara, where she earned her B.A. in Political Science and History of Public Policy. On campus, she served her student government as a legislative council representative and was involved in voter registration efforts and a wide variety of electoral work. Courtney is committed to fighting for lower fees, increased financial aid and diversity in admissions in Sacramento this year. She is excited to be working in California legislative politics to make the dream of attending UC a reality for more California students.
Ray Austin, University Affairs & Council on Student Fees Director - As University Affairs and Council on Student Fees Director, Ray Austin provides policy, administrative, and program support to the Council on Student Fees and the UCSA Board of Directors regarding university policy issues of concern to UC students. He also serves as a liaison between UCSA and the UC Office of the President, the Academic Senate, the Council of Vice Chancellors, and the Board of Regents. He is a 2007 alumnus of UC Santa Cruz where he earned his B.A. in Sociology. As an undergraduate student, Ray spent two years as a student government officer in the capacity of Internal Vice Chair and Chair of the Student Union Assembly. He was a Board member of the United States Student Association as well. He has been and will continue to advocate for academic preparation programs especially student initiated programs, accountability of the UC Regents, diversity, and low student fees. Ray firmly believes that student power can bring the change necessary to make the University of California more accessible and affordable, and he will work diligently to make sure students have the resources to be successful.-
Jennifer Knox, Organizing Director - As UCSA Organizing & Communications Director, Jennifer is responsible for developing and overseeing the campaigns that students choose at UCSA Congress each August. She provides support to campuses in implementing campaign tactics, develops organizing materials, as well as serves as UCSA contact for media. An alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Jennifer graduated with a B.B.A. in Business Information Systems. Prior to working with UCSA, Jennifer organized for local, state, and national campaigns. She worked as the Treasurer for a Madison, WI city council race and Field Organizer for a state-wide ballot initiative. Jennifer also served as Finance Chair for the Associated Students of Madison and Coordinator of the UW-Madison Vote Coalition for the 2004 Presidential Election. Jennifer is excited to work with students in California to strengthen the statewide student movement.
Holly Lim, Field Organizer / Collective Bargaining Program Coordinator - Holly graduated from UCR, and studied Political Science, Law & Society, and Asian American Studies. While at UCR, Holly worked with the ASUCR External Affairs Office, which sparked her interest in organizing around access and affordability to higher education. During her last two years, Holly became the ASUCR External VP, sitting on the UCSA Board, and ASUCR President. Holly is also passionate about racial and social justice and organized with the Pilipino Studies Collective, ran a mentoring program for the Asian Pacific Student Programs, and was active in the Katipunan Pilipino Student Organization.
As one of the Field Organizers, Holly creates organizing materials and helps students develop and implement UCSA campaigns in the field. She travels regularly to UC campuses to meet with, train, and give support to student leaders and organizers around UCSA campaigns. As one of the CBP Coordinators, Holly recruits and trains students to partake in contract negotiations between UC employers and labor unions, where students can learn about the collective bargaining process and express the student perspective.
Kelly Osmundson, Field Organizer / Collective Bargaining Program Coordinator - As one of the Field Organizer / Collective Bargaining Program Coordinators, Kelly is responsible for developing and implementing UCSA campaigns and creating organizing materials. She travels regularly to UC campuses to meet with student leaders and provide support for student government organizations. Kelly is also responsible for recruiting and training students to participate in contract negotiations between the UC administration and the unions to voice student concerns.
An alumna of UC Berkeley, Kelly graduated with a double major in History and Peace and Conflict Studies. While at Berkeley , Kelly organized with the Berkeley Stop the War Coalition and the Cal Lobby Corps. Kelly is excited to run grassroots tactics with UC students on campus and to fight for affordable and accessible higher education for all.
Iris Cornelious, Admin Assistant - As Administrative Assistant Iris Cornelious offers support to the Executive Director and Staff of UCSA. Iris is responsible for maintaining the administrative operations. You can call Iris the nuts and bolts of UCSA. From paying bills to returning your phone calls and getting you reimburse, in addition making sure your phone calls and concerns are directed and delivered to the appropriate staff person. In the upcoming year Iris is looking forward to assisting UCSA keep in stride with there commitments and goals. Iris is a recent graduate of Laney Community College with a Certificate of Completion in Computer Information Systems and currently attending the Colorado Tech Online University to obtain an Associate of Science in Business Administration, expected graduation date August 12, 2008.
