The purpose of caucuses is to provide a closed, safe sapce where students who identify with a particular community can dialogue with each other about issues that affect our particular communites, as well as to strategize with other community members about ways to effectively challenge and break down barriers that exist for our communities. UNderstanding that identity can be fluid and can intersect with other identities, we aim to create safe spaces for as many communities as possible.
We are looking for experienced caucus facilitators from each of these communites: Native American African Asian American / Pacific Islander Latina/o and Chicana/o Middle Eastern South Asian Anti-racist whites Non-Traditional First Generation Disabled / Different abled International Students> Working Class Queer Queer People of Color Womyn Womyn of Color Multi-/Bi-racial/ethnic Men of Color
Experiences facilitators are students who have experience in effectively facilitating workshops and students who are currently or have recently bene actively organizing on their campus in these communities. Experience facilitators are crucial because we recognize that the time that we have together is limited and we would like to use tha ttime as effectively as possible.
Facilitators who are chosen will be asked to commit to attending at least one conference call before the confernece and a debrief confernece call or debrief after the confernece is over. For addiontal information or questions, please contact bridges at bridgesinfo@berkeley.edu.
